La historia es muy interesante, revela aspectos del sistema, procedimientos judiciales, revela aspectos del comportamiento humano de personas "conocidas" y reafirma la popular frase "caras vemos, corazones no sabemos". La forma narrativa no me gusto, tiene errores de ortografia que no entiendo como pasaron por alto al escribir, corregir y editar. Me gustaria encontrar un libro con la version contada desde el otro lado, del lado de MAM y BB, tal vez para ver hasta donde llega el cinismo.

No es un "ataque personal" ni un afán de desprestigio a nadie. Se dicen las cosas como fueron y más bien, es una muestra clarísima de que Dios Padre Eterno, esta en todo. Aquí aplica muy bien aquello que dice: "no lleves tus problemas a Dios, lleva a Dios a tus problemas.
Socarras queda a la altura. BB, que Dios la juzgue y M. A. Moreno se empequeñeció como hombre porque...la duda queda.

Originally printed in 1968 and this book on fasting is equally as important and relevant today as it was during the times when the scriptures were written. Arthur Wallis will both challenge and encourage you with what the Old and the New Testaments have to say about fasting. And, when you follow through with your own fasts, the challenge turns into reward! Fasting is no small thing and not to be ignored. It's certainly brought my relationship with the Lord to entirely new levels. So much so that I wanted to learn more about fasting and grow even closer! That's why I bought this book.

A Reference Manual For Fasting In a Concise Format - You Are Going To Love This Book!

I love this book. I have ordered it several times and have given it away as gifts over the years. It arrived on time and in like new condition. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in fasting - it's a little reference book on biblical fasting from Genesis to Revelation.

Then there's Tierra del Fuego, the tip of the southern world, encompassing beautiful scenery and the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia. Or how about a cruise to (relatively) nearby Antarctica?

Fills more of the void than the others

I used the guide in February 2003 to complete a trip in Argentina. The Lonely Planet guide was the best that I found, but none were up to par. I had Rough Guide to Argentina with me as well, and found it superior for the descriptions of points of interest. Lonely Planet, however, provided adequate descriptions and added travel information (75% correct) and local maps from time to time. Particularly unreliable were prices (of course, with the economic situation) and flight information. Pricing in any of the Arg. guides published for early 2003 is only good for comparison between like opportunities. Flights tended to be offered on different days or had been cancelled since publishing. The only notable information flaw I remember was in the El Bolson description, where they placed the cervezeria and associated campground on the opposite side of town. Everyone I met travelling to Uruguay or Paraguay had the Shoestring Guide to S.A. rather than this specialty guide, so I have no information on those sections of the book. All in all, the L.P. guide provided the best overall information, and I wouldn't have had as much time to enjoy my trip without it.

A step up, rather

The first 'reviewer' has it wrong--this edition of Lonely Planet's Argentina book is a remarkable improvement over the 3rd edition, which at times is convolutedly wordy beyond belief. The review sounds like it was written by the previous author. Be aware that some competetive guidebooks, such as those put out by Avalon (or Moon) pay their authors based on the royalty system. In other words, on how many books they sell. Avalon may be putting out their own Argentina guide soon. Your best advice: run through the books at a bookstore and decide for yourself which fits your needs best.

A step backward

Except for most of the Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego chapters, which show evidence of capable research and writing, this is a step backward from the previous edition. The coverage of northwestern Argentina is superficial and even naive, and the coverage of Iguazu falls missed the enormous changes that resulted from privatization of national park services over the past few years. It looks as if only one, perhaps two, of the five authors was really up to the job.

Great intro to epigraphy and the history of scripts

Remarkable for its breadth, this work presents a concise history of writing authored by a linguist well known for his work on the Rongorongo script of Easter Island (Oceania's only pre-twentieth century writing system) and with the enigmatic Linear B script of Crete. Fischer's approach is essentially to circumscribe writing systems to a geographical area and then discuss their evolution within a chronological context. The author is adroit at synthesizing and drawing parallels from disparate writing systems but the books principal strength is in unfolding the development of scripts and exploring how graphic expressions of speech are manifested in various logographic, syllabographic, and alphabetic writing systems. The development of Babylonian cuneiform from its ancestral pictographs, the Phoenician and Etruscan roots of modern Latin scripts, and the evolution of the Standard Arabic script from its Nabataen origins serve as examples. The book is well endowed with illustrations of scripts, alphabets, inscriptions, glyphs, typefaces, and other source material. Linguistic terms are explained thoroughly as they are being introduced however the book would have benefited from inclusion of a glossary. Engagingly written, this book will appeal to anyone interested in linguistics and the historical development of writing systems.

everything you ever wanted to know ...

This falls into the category of: Things You Never Knew You Were So Interested In Before You Read This Book." A fascinating account of the development of written language from the first cuneiform scratchings right up to the present, with family trees showing how the various writing styles diverged over time, with detailed accounts of how these various writing styles agree or disagree with each other, with an impressive wealth of illustrations, and perhaps most importantly, without getting bogged down in linguistic mumbo jumbo. This is not necessarily an easy read, but it is not that difficult either. I rarely give a book a five-star (in my opinion, Mark Twain cornered that market ages ago), but this one is truly worth it.

so it was pretty new to me

The book follows the development of writing in the different civilizations where it was used. A very interesting subject about which I have very little exposure, so it was pretty new to me. Interestingly this author believes that writing was only invented once, and was then picked up from travelers (including the Mayans).
